Posting

Post
Movie
You can
share and exchange your movie(s) with other Comixware users online by posting it to various Comixware galleries. NOTE: You can post your movie to any Open gallery. But you need access privilege to post to a Private gallery.

Public
or
Private
Post
Every gallery (Open or Private) offers two types of posting choices: "public"
post and "private" post. A "public" post is a
movie viewable by all users of respective gallery. This option is designed for users
to showcase their works using Gallery as a public forum. A "private"
post (denoted by a "lock" symbol in Gallery listing)
on the other hand is accessible designated password only. This option is designed for
people to use Gallery as a private channel for file exchange or collaborative work. The silver
lining of the two is whether a movie is password protected. A password protected movie is a private post; and a non-password protected movie is a public post.
Minimum Posting Requirement
For posting
to any Gallery, the first thing you need obviously is an Internet connection
to get your stuffs online. The second thing to consider is whether
your post is for "public" or for "private" viewing.
If it is for "public" showcasing purpose, please note that there
is a minimum of 20 scenes plus 20 objects requirement for all
such movies. That is, your movie should be composed of at least 20
scenes with a minimum of 20 composition objects in them to be eligible
for public post. When your movie does not match this criterion,
a warning message will come up to remind you of such shortfall.
However,
if your post is intended for "private" purpose, then there is NO minimum posting requirement. You simply check the "Restrict Access" check box (on Post Movie screen) and you may post your movie with ANY number of scenes or objects.
Post Movie UI
To post a movie, simply click the Posting button from the Listing Mode of a desired gallery to access its Post Movie interface (see sample screen above). NOTE: When you are to post movie to a gallery that is OTHER THAN the default Public Gallery, make sure you select and access the correct gallery in the Listing Mode first. Then click the Posting button (on the left) to switch to the Posting Mode. The current gallery name will appear above Post Movie screen. That's the indication of whether you are in the correct UI for you to post your movie. Remember, individual gallery's Posting Mode should be accessed through respective Listing Mode.
In this first Post Movie screen all fields (Movie Title, Author Name, Email and Password) are required to be filled:
Movie Title
Enter a movie title here for your posting. If your posting movie
bears the same title as a movie already exists in the Gallery, an
alert will come up to ask you to choose a different title. Simply
click "OK" to go back to previous screen to enter a different
title for your movie. If however the existing title bears the same
Administrative ID as your current posting, a verification screen
will come up for you to confirm that your intention is to replace the
existing post with the current one. Here the program assumes you are the original author
intending to modify your earlier post. Simply enter the appropriate
administrative ID again to get your post modified.
Your
Name
Enter
an author's name to be associated with your movie.
This can be any nickname of your choice.
Your Email
Enter an email address here to be associated with your post. Your
email serves not only as a way for other users to communicate with
you, but is also used as an administrative ID enabling you to edit
your post later in the Gallery. Please note that under Comixware's
smart aliasing
scheme your email is always safe and kept away from preying eyes.
The email address you enter here on Post Movie screen will not be
revealed to Gallery viewers at any time.
Password
You are required to set up a password for your posting. The password you choose should be of at least 6 characters
long in any combination of letters and numbers. The password is
to be used for 2 purposes:
Administrative ID
Together
with your e-mail address, the "password" is used to make up an unique Admin ID for your Gallery entry. So that later if
you decide to make changes to or to remove your posting,
you can use it (e-mail and password) to establish your administrative privilege to proceed.
To
edit or replace your Gallery movie, simply re-post a new version
of your movie using the same title and movie ID of the original
post. Once authenticated your old Gallery piece will be replaced
by the new post. To remove your gallery posting, switch to Listing mode and use the Delete button to remove it from the Gallery (see Gallery
Management).
Restrictive Access
The
other use of the "password" is to password protect your
Gallery movie. Only users who you give your password to are allowed
to download your movie from the Gallery. This is useful if you
intend to share or exchange your "private" contents
with friends and colleagues. When
you want your movie to be "protected", simply check
the box (says restrict access) below the password field. When this box is checked, your
posting will show up in the Gallery with a lock
symbol on it. That means your movie is password "protected".
You may use the EMAIL
button at the last screen of POST MOVIE UI to give
your movie password to people you want them to have access to.
Now your gallery post will be seen only by
designated audiences.
Note:
Password alone doesn't give your friends or colleagues the necessary
administrative privilege to change or remove your movie from the
Gallery. Only someone who gets both e-mail and password authenticated
is allowed for admin privilege.
Tip:
If you change your mind about your "protected" or "unprotected"
Gallery post, you can always alter the permission by reposting
the same movie to the Gallery. Just remember, a new post always
replaces an old post entirely including its "accessibility"
setting.
Note: DO NOT use any of the following characters in the input fields: \ / : * ? < > |. They
are incompatible with Comixware's naming convention. Please also
avoid using & (and), . (dot) or " (quotation)
for your Movie Title or Name. They will be automatically replaced
by _ (under score), - (hyphen) and ' (apostrophe)
mark respectively.
The next POST MOVIE screen is for you to supply additional information for your movie. It is to be used in Movie Info Panel for viewer to learn more about your movie and provide you additional means for web connectivity. Information for these fields (Theme, Web Link and Synopsis) are optional.

Theme
This field is for you to enter thematic keywords about your movie so that it can be better searched and/or tagged by other web applications (such as blog or forum).
Web Link
This field is for you to enter an URL that you'd like your movie to be connected to. This can be a website, a bolg address or simply a link where you want the "conversation" to continue. This link will be associated with the movie Title on your Movie Info Panel. When people click on the Title it will take them to the URL you designated.
Synopsis
This field is for you to enter a short description of your movie so that people can get a quick idea about it from the Movie Info Panel. You can also use this field to pass on production notes to your colleagues in a collaborative work situation.
Now click POST to continue.
