Comixware SE is built on the unique strength and simplicity of Comixware CE (Classic Edition). It aims at serious creative types who want to further their expression with broader publishing possibilities. Here is a glimpse of the rationale, features and implementation of SE program.

Comixware SE is built on a modular architecture with flexibility and expendability in mind so that user can customize and configure the program the way he/she sees fit. Under this design, the Main Program acts as an enabler providing the tools and engine for movie building and interactive storytelling, while special publishing features such as 'Movie Exporter' or vendor asset packages are augmented as integrable modules that can be installed independently by user as needed. All these modulability and DIY options are easily manageable from within the Program under one unified interface.

One crucial parameter for Comixware's viability lies in its connectivity and relevance to the 'outside' world. Namely, the capability to output movie to a common format. That's why Movie Exporter is born. It can export proprietary Comixware movie to QuickTime format in high quality.

High Quality - To ensure the highest picture quality for different publishing purposes, Movie Exporter is capable of producing movie in ultra high resolution (up to 4000 x 4000 pixel). For audio output SE offers sample rate from 8000kHz to 64000kHz in stereo or mono format. Picture and sound tracks can be exported together or separately. Export range can also be easily defined by user.

Flash-centric - When this high-resolution exportability couples with the main engine's Flash capability user can practically turn his/her vector base animation into feature grade footage. To paraphrase Ratatouille, ANYONE can do feature!

Good Compression - While completely capable of preserving the original quality of source materials (NONE compression), SE also offers user a couple of GOOD (instead of many indistinguishable) compressors that really matter: H.264 and MPEG-4. Your YouTube movie would certainly stand out by SE!

Smart GUI - SE's co-relational task-oriented export UI leads you through the maze of media standards and codecs with minimum guess work. Its default compression sets are carefully balanced and calibrated so that their results are more than adequate for most of circumstances. See an exported sample by Movie Exporter.

The coolest feature of SE no doubt is the 3D object. This type of object can contain and display 8 instances (animated or static) of an object so that it can be manipulated on stage in a pseudo 3D fashion. (See the cube in the screen copy? As you turn it the figure will change angles accordingly.) It can also be used as a story object to pack 8 different movies in one place (instead of 8 angles of a same object) for interactive storytelling. The possibility and usefulness of such object is only limited by your imagination!

In SE, user can create his/her own custom text objects with any choice of fonts. SE is also Unicode compliant so that text can be displayed in any language. Another advantage of SE text object over CE's is that it is now a separate entity from "balloon", so that text can be composed and manipulated independently just like any other scene object.

SE's sound panel gives you better control over your movie's soundtracks. It allows you to fine tune the volume of the background sound at the timeline level. It also adds more storage and better manageability for sound assets. Now a single bin space can accommodate multiple nested assets interchangeable between user and vendor categories.

The snapshot function allows you to make a still picture of any selected frame in your movie. This is no ordinary screen grabber in that you can actually specify the resolution of a reproduced picture to be of almost any size. That means you can not only extract a quick storyboard from your movie but also output press quality artwork from that same movie. Produce once and publish everywhere!

Gallery, Comixware ’s community system can now accommodate multiple channels (called galleries) that each can be customized for its own purpose and hosted by different user. This is similar to a blog channel. But instead of text people communicate and interact in multimedia contents. Private hosting license is available in turn-key style package.

Comixware’s distributed asset architecture and filtering technology are inherently superior than the conventional 'streaming' solutions for online media delivery. This makes Gallery ideal for online movie collaboration and social network interactivity. Think of it as INTERACTIVE YouTube in HIGH-RES media.
